This point-to-point walk begins on the unrestored Gubeikou Wall and finishes among Jinshanling’s watchtowers. Expect uneven stone, exposed steps and open mountain views. The route rewards hikers who are comfortable walking for several hours.
A sustained 10 km walk with changing footing. Wear shoes with grip and keep water, sun protection and a light layer close at hand.

Gubeikou was a strategic northern gateway to Beijing and later a battlefield in 1933. Its unrestored ramparts and varied towers give the first part of the walk a distinctly rugged character.
At Jinshanling, the Wall shifts toward carefully built brickwork and a chain of towers with differing shapes and defensive functions. The roughly 10 km crossing makes that change visible on foot.
